From September to November 2006, Adam Hill, Founder of Operation Frameworks visited ongoing charity run projects in Soweto, South Africa and India.
Healthcare provision in India runs a tri-tiered system, in which the lowest tier provides a limited public service, with little access to specialist care. As such, access to an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in Childhood conditions requires accessing private care, beyond the abilities of a significant number of indigenous families. Thus, there is a heavy reliance on philanthropy for such care.

The clinic in Manipal is run by Professor Benjamin Joseph, internationally renowned for his contributions to understanding Perthes amongst other conditions. His clinics are expansive, often seeing more than 150 children a day with all manner of complex conditions, with a philosophy not to refuse anyone care. |
